In a world where the level of discourse has turned into nasty vitriol and seemingly innocent comments run the risk of offending those whose sensitivities are at an all-time high, I recommend this comedic classic guaranteed to offend only those who have left their senses of humor by the wayside. If you have ever had one of those weekends where you threw your responsibilities out the window, thought you were never going to make it back to some sense of normalcy and didn’t care at all, read this tale about an epic weekend in Buffalo in 1995. You will laugh out loud even if you think it’s wrong to.
I am in no way a football fan which is great because I didn’t have to be one to laugh my ass off while I was reading “Squish The Fish”… There is nothing better than a drunk guy who doubles as the “man with the plan”! It was so funny that I even let my ex-husband borrow it and ordered one for my father too. There is a serious shortage of books that celebrate the party animal that is hiding in all of us… which kind of reminds me of a book I once wrote called “The Alcohol Memoirs”. Enjoy & keep up the good work Dave!
As I sat reading this, I had people around me kept looking at me trying to figure out why I kept busting out laughing! I can’t believe I’m the only guy in the world who knows some guys just like this. Especially Bob & Zabka as well as a putz like Scooter! Mr Lundy, you HAVE TO WRITE ANOTHER LIKE THIS! You’re funnier than author Carl Hiaasen!
I couldn’t wait to see how the guys would get out of each bind. Answer: with lots of booze, some good luck (bordering on the divine), and something we all care about… sex.
I feel like I know each character in this book. I’ll bet that we all do!
A fun read. A bunch of jackasses on an adventure of a lifetime… or at least until the next game.
This book is quite simply one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. Yes, it’s crass; yes, it’s profane; and yes, it can be a bit over-the-top, but holy mother is it funny… and no, it’s not without a lot of heart; the type of heart you can only find in places like Buffalo, NY, in the dead of winter… after four consecutive Super Bowl losses.
The characters are as demented as they are endearing, and, if there is any justice in this world, will someday find themselves immortalized on a big screen somewhere, not unlike Animal House’s Blutarski, Fast Times’s Spicoli, or The Hangover’s Alan Garner.
If you’re looking for something in league with Stern’s Private Parts or Artie Donovan’s Fatso in terms of funny, do yourself a favor and check this tome out; you will NOT be disappointed.
Debauchery is right! Squish the Fish is a clever, RAUNCHY story that will lead you into a tailspin of sex, booze, football…and more sex.
Ladies – this is a must read if you want a glimpse into the minds of men as you follow Bob and his friends through their crude escapades. These guys are incredibly hilarious, and at times even charming (well, except for Zabka the Tool).
Think American Pie meets The Hangover, or a Sex and the City for Men 🙂 Very funny and creative, and I loved all the plot twists! Hoping there will be a sequel so we can read more about these boys and the trouble they are stirring up in Buffalo… There’s even a catchy Squish the Fish song on iTunes, so check it out!
